Join fellow researchers, facilities professionals, students, and industry partners for an engaging afternoon at The University of Texas at Austin, where innovation and sustainability come together in some of the university's most advanced research environments.

The experience begins with a guided tour through several cutting-edge engineering and research facilities, offering a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how breakthrough discoveries are made. Participants will visit the Broadbelt Lab in the Engineering Education and Research Center (WEL) and explore laboratory spaces within the Center for Planetary Exploration (CPE), gaining firsthand insight into the technologies, equipment, and research initiatives shaping the future of science and engineering.

As the tour progresses, attendees will make their way to the Nuclear and Molecular Sciences (NMS) Building for a thought-provoking presentation by Malcolm Barnard, who will share perspectives on creating more sustainable and efficient research environments. The afternoon continues with a presentation from the U-Share-I.T team, highlighting innovative equipment-sharing programs that help universities maximize resources, reduce redundancy, lower environmental impact, and foster greater collaboration across campus research communities.

  • 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM: Arrive and park at Speedway Garage; walk to WEL

  • 2:00 PM - 2:20 PM: Tour of the Broadbelt Lab (WEL)

  • 2:20 PM - 2:30 PM: Walk to CPE

  • 2:30 PM - 2:50 PM: Tour of CPE laboratory space

  • 2:50 PM - 3:00 PM: Walk to NMS

  • 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM: Presentation by Malcolm Barnard

  • 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Presentation by the U-Share-I.T. Group

  • 4:00 PM: Walk back to the garage and head to networking reception

  • 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM Happy Hour at Haymaker Austin
